I used this book for an ethnography/field methods class and generally enjoyed it.
It's very informative, and lays out everything you would encounter while conducting field work or an ethnography in an easy to follow manner.
I originally rented it, but I think I'm going to buy it.
I will say this though, you definitely learn a lot more by doing out in the field than from any book you will ever use.

About the Author

Roberto de Franchis is Head of the Gastroenterology Unit at the L. Sacco University Hospital, Milan, Italy and Professor of Medicine (Gastroenterology) at the University of Milan. He is a member of several specialist societies and an elected Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association. Dr. de Franchis has published widely in the fields of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the major medical and hepatology journals. Every five years since 1990 he has organized the International Consensus Workshop on Definitions, Methodology, and Therapeutic Strategies in Portal Hypertension in Baveno, Italy. In 2010 he was organizer and co-chairman of the European School of Hepatology (EASL) in Barcelona, Spain.

Terrific book. Its aimed at kids, however there's plenty of factual information to keep adults interested. It does a good job of laying out the challenges that must be overcome to colonize mars. Explores advantages of going to mars moons.

Despite the simple, kid pitched approach its a decent primer on going to mars.

Welcome to Mars: Making a Home on the Red Planet is co-authored by famous astronaut, Buzz Aldrin who is a strong advocate for space exploration, and Marianne Dyson, who is an award-winning author and former NASA flight controller. In short… these are the experts and they make a very compelling case for the possibility of living on Mars in the future. This book will stretch the imagination of young minds – the future thinkers and explorers.

The book begins with a description of the tools for space exploration (i.e., space crafts, space rovers, and more) followed by a discussion of the history of Martian exploration and a presentation of what we already know about the “Red Planet”. The book even contains a topographical map of Mars – it’s just incredible!

The second half of the book is dedicated to using our imagination to think about what living on Mars would look like and some of the issues we would need to address for it to be habitable. For example, there is no breathable air, it is extremely cold, there is no free-running water, no vegetation, no rain, and far less gravity than Earth (does this mean I would be “lighter”?) There are a series of crisp photographs, groovy illustrations, and even some dioramas depicting things such as high-tech space suits, the dusty rust-colored Martian landscape, and tripped-out bio-domes containing all that is needed to live comfortably. The cynic in me is converting to the idea that it may indeed be possible to live on Mars!

My Bottom Line: Welcome to Mars: Making a Home on the Red Planet features an eye-catching collection of photographs and illustrations and is full of the latest science-based information about Mars, space travel, and more. As with other children from generations passed, who gazed up in wonder toward the night sky, this book tests the limits of the reader’s imagination by challenging them to envision life on the Red Planet. I highly recommend this great book and I think it is the perfect choice for any space enthusiast aged 8 years and older.

Their anger/mistrust overshadowed the romance portion....

Got to say, I read this one while I was in a take me back to the old days kind of mood. The synopsis reminded me of the first Harlequin romances I read. You know, those delightful, flirty, but highly emotional/love angst, enemies to lovers, unexpected pregnancy, eventual HEAs kind of reads. Well, this had all of that in spades, my romance book-loving friends. In fact, a little too much at times. I have to admit the crazy, impulsive stunt Vico, the Italian stallion, pulls on Lise in hopes of humiliating her seemed OTT vengeful for someone just because she was at odds at him in the boardroom. It more than backfired, of course. Resulting in two adversaries, who hated/didn’t trust each other until almost the bitter end. Sure, once Vico put two and two together and blackmailed Lise into marriage, he seemed determined to take care of her and be a good husband. It isn’t surprising she didn’t trust him though. Personally, I would have loved to have seen her tell him to take his deal and shove it, then make a run for it, forcing him to have to track her down. For someone we were told was strong, she came across weak and a handwringer at times.

Maybe I’m out of practice when it comes to this theme, but I wasn’t fully prepared for the hate/mistrust to linger so long. You know it isn’t a good sign when you actually want the heroine to convince the hero the baby isn’t his. He sure was quick to turn back to hate at the drop of a hat whenever she said or did something he didn’t like. She was almost as quick to do the same. In fact, their animosity overshadowed the few glimpses of romantic feelings that were slowly developing.

The good news is, of course, they got their HEA. I just felt it would have been better if it had more romance to help soften the bitter/angry tone.

I only recently discovered Ms LaFever and am so glad I did. This is the third book by her that I've read so far and it was a terrific story. A story that touched on so many emotions and brought the characters alive. A romance with a heat level so high but threatened to burn each partner because they tried to deny the fire between them. But, one circumstance brings them together even as they try to fight all they feel. An absolutely terrific romance and I'd certainly recommend this book to all romance lovers.

CRAZY EMOTIONAL STORY!!

Lise is the CFO of a financial company that is now owned by a man she despises. She is strong, smart and never lies and people respect her for it. After her broken engagement she goes to a bar to drown her sorrows. Meeting her boss there is unexpected and unwanted, falling into his bed is even worse. But the hammer falls when the pregnancy test reads positive.

Vicenzo has clawed his way up from the streets to a force to be reckoned with. The CFO of his new company has made things an uphill battle from the start. With her cold personality and always being against his proposals. He decides to take her down a notch and show her who is the real boss. But it backfires in ways he could have never predicted.

These two go at each other like two prize fighters or like junk yard dogs, just looking for an opportunity to rip into each other. Vico is ruthless, mean and antagonizing towards Lise to protect himself. She puts up walls and shoots icy glares to protect herself. There are so many misunderstandings, miscommunication, and misconceptions that it will make your head spin! I went through the majority of the book trying to decide which one to smack across the head first! But about the time I'm ready to smack my e-reader on the table, the story opened up and their hate for each other took a different turn. Like a flower blooming, the built up to walls start breaking down. It was slow and they let their guards down one petal at a time. Finally I didn't want to scream anymore. These two earned every bit of HEA they could find because their journey is not a sweet one and they both deserved happiness. Throw in a loud boisterous Italian family, meddling friends, and a mother that makes a lemon sweet and you have one crazy emotional story. Great read!
