Poor grammar and sentence structure and an apparent unwillingness to use commas didn't help the readability of this novella at all. �I lost patience and gave up at the halfway point.�

By this stage I should have been able to work out the basics of what was going on and who all the characters were and which side, either good or bad, they were on. Don't have a clue.�

Definitely one for the DNF pile. �Can't recommend it either.�

Be prepared to be hooked on this series. Very well written and action packed. This book's main character is a 17 year old high school student who's life has been turned upside down and is not only thrown into a war but is the expected hero....no pressure.
Even as an adult I have really enjoyed this book. Definitely worth 5 stars.
I read on this author's blog that when the forth book, now in editing is released the first three will no longer free but $2.99.
Are they worth it? Yes. Will I buy the upcoming books? Yes.

About the Author
I was born and raised in a small rural community in Southeastern Oklahoma where I attended a Nazarene Church. The church’s Pastor was a woman we called “Sister Neal“. Her Life was a living testimony of being wholly dedicated to God. She was such a great influence in my life that the stigma against women ministers was never an issue with me. In 1955 my husband and I moved to Houston, Texas where I attended the Lakewood Church. My Pastor John Osteen was a powerful vessel ordained by God to be a pioneer of the Charismatic move of God in the earth. I can still hear him now declaring, “Pentecost is not a denomination, it’s an experience!“ On March 19th, 1959 I received this glorious baptism of fire. In 1973, I founded the Word of Life Church and have been the Pastor for the past thirty-seven years. Through the years I have evangelized across the United States and since 2005 I have had the honor of ministering in the Philippines, India, Guatemala and Mexico. These countries continue to be a Missionary outreach for Word of Life Church.

Michael J. Buckley traces the argument that informed the rise of modern atheism, finding that this unprecedented denial of God developed out of the very strategies employed to counter it.

About the Author
Buckley was director of an ccumenical and pastoral center at Wetherby, the first of its kind in Europe, from 1966 and 1977. Pope Paul VI appointed him to the VIatican Secretariat for Promoting Christian Unity, a position he held for five years, and he has continued this work through the Maranatha Community for reconciliation in Northern Ireland. He was founder of El Shaddai Inner Healing Movement in 1982. He has been Parish Priest of St. Joseph's Church, Taddcaster, Yorkshire, but is now working full-time in the healing ministry.

In an age where atheism is generally taken to be the 'default' or 'neutral' position and where the burden of proof is presumed to rest with theism, it is invigorating to read a book that treats atheism as a theory or school with its own intellectual history. Buckley's concern is not to trace atheism to its very origins but rather to explore the way in which early modern thinkers such as Descartes in their attempts to place theism on secure 'scientific' foundations unwittingly gave rise to exactly the opposite position. Buckley's study is a major achievement in the history of ideas.

Brilliant. Mandatory reading!

This is probably the most influential book I've read, and I've read quite a few. It is a trenchant bit of historical work, explaining how the question of the existence of God became translated out of theology and ultimately into physics and science. This book will rock any atheist's world.

The best introduction to existential psychology

This is the most succinct and authoritative introduction to existential psychology and psychotherapy currently available. It contains a variety of May's pithy and penetrating essays on the subject, including his introductory chapter to the classic collection EXISTENCE (1958) that first conveyed the tenets of European existential analysis across the Atlantic to America. When I teach courses on existential psychotherapy, this is one of the titles I like to include as required reading.

The Discovery of Being -- Writings in Existential Psychology -- by Rollo May is a superior introduction to Existential Psychology. If one is concerned with the causes of loneliness and isolation, in the human being -- which is also a major theme of the Existentialist school of thought -- this book is an excellent place to start. The Discovery of Being is a brisk, unclouded read. Stimulating would be an understatement, to say the least.

For those interested in how Existential Psychology applies to Existentialism and Phenomenology, there is a section dealing with Kierkegaard, Nietzsche and Freud...as background material. Other interest peaking sections that I enjoyed: How Existentialism and Psychoanalysis Arose out of the Same Cultural Situation, To Be and Not to Be, Anxiety and Guilt as Ontological, Being in the World, and The Three Modes of World. Good Existential Psychology Introduction

Rollo May provides in this book a good introduction to existential psychotherapy. He clearly introduces the central concepts of existentialism and provides wonderful insight into human beings from that perspective. What makes this book especially appealing is the fact that May writes in an incredibly readable manner about sometimes quite obtuse information. I recommend this to anyone interested in learning more about existentialism, existential psychology, and, in particular, existential psychotherapy.
