Michal Matloka is a Java developer with experience in both Java EE and Spring technologies. He is a JBoss community contributor, focusing mainly on Arquillian and ShrinkWrap, and is also a winner of the JBoss Community Recognition Award in 2013 for his contributions to ShrinkWrap. He has spoken at Poznan Java User Group and volunteered at GeeCON. Francesco Marchioni

Francesco Marchioni is a Sun Certified Enterprise architect employed for an Italian company based in Rome. He started learning Java in 1997, and since then he has followed the path to the newest Application Program Interfaces released by Sun. In 2000, he joined the JBoss community when the application server was running the 2.x release. He has spent many years as a software consultant, where he has envisioned many successful software migrations from vendor platforms to the open source products such as JBoss AS, fulfilling the tight budget requirements of current times. For the past 5 years, he has been authoring technical articles for O'Reilly Media and also runs an IT portal focused on JBoss products (http://www.mastertheboss.com). In December 2009, he authored JBoss AS 5 Development, Packt Publishing, which describes how to create and deploy Java Enterprise applications on JBoss AS. Full of good examples on Java EE 7 with configuration explanations for WildFly

The book gives the user an introduction of developing Java EE 7 applications on the JBoss WildFly application server. So you find a lot of information about Java EE 7 and how some management or configuration tasks can be performed on WildFly in this book.

There is a short introduction about the main technologies included in Java EE 7 and how you can install WildFly. The difference between the 2 modes (standalone and domain mode) is also nicely explained and how you can manage the server, through Web interface and command line.

A major part of the book is a description of the main Java EE 7 technologies with examples that are more then just a simple hello world.

Content you can find are for instance:

- Calling a remote EJB from a client program using authentication.
- Java Connector example to connect ActiveMQ to JBoss HornetQ queues.
- AngularJS example as REST client
- Using JSON encoded payload in WebSocket communication.

Another major part is about the management and configuration of the WildFly server. All the important topics are explained here, like.

- Defining a module for the database connectivity.
- Very good explanation about the JBoss Modules, the alternative for the hierarchical class loader in WildFly. Also there is clear enumeration on how the modules are activated; automatically based on the annotations you use or manually specifying module dependencies.
- Definitions of realms and security domains and how password hashing can be achieved.

The book has to cover a wide range of topics, the Java EE 7 frameworks and the specific things of them related to WildFly. And although there is always some explanation about how and why the examples work, some acquaintance of Java EE and/or web development is advisable to take the maximum out of the book.

For the examples, Eclipse is used as IDE. So the walk through of the required steps is a bit harder when you use another IDE.

Never the less, the example code is great, a lot of topics got explained and you get a good start to manage your WildFly server and Java EE 7 applications.

Nice Introduction about JAVA EE 7 APIs.
Starts with the installation of tools in the chapter 01.
Ideal for have a successful experience with the source code of each chapter.

The chapter 2 explains how to use the wildfly web console and command line interface, configure and
deploy your applications. That's is a crash course of wildfly administration that sometimes appears in other book.
Good idea for me.

I enjoy find a book that explains step by step some topic. The creation of the lab using EJBs and Maven is amazing.

CDI is not a easy topic. The explanation is simple and enables to understand the dependency injection in a JAVA EE 7 context.
Configure and use Richfaces permit to understand how to use a MVC framework like JSF.

The book continues with the Persistency and how to configure JPA, reverse engineered, use producers, services
and controllers. Thats pretty cool for have the whole figure.

The chapter 6 is my favorite because you can learn to use messaging with wildfly or external message brokers like
activemq and hornetQ.

If you are interestd in learn to configure and create
web services SOAP and REST the chapter 7 explains with granular detail these topics.

If you are tired of see the chat demo with websockets. That's a great demo about
push notification of seats free or busy.

Finally if you want to administrate your wildfly like a boss and monitor the health of it. The chapter
nine will be very util for you, because if you are a good programmer, you must to do control of your Java EE stack.

I love PicketBox thanks to it chapter. Put secure to your applications of a easy way.

I didn't find a chapter about Clustering in other books. This is a topic that many beginners doesn't know.
For this reason, I enjoyed this chapter and learned new features.

Create Batch applications is fundamental for long tasks in the enterprise world. Very nice to
find this lab in the chapter 12.

I used Junit long time ago, but the testing chapter about arquillian shows me a great way for do
integral test. No more mocks.

Finally the appendix about Jboss Forge similar to ROO but with focus to JAVA EE 7. Pretty cool.

In general, I recommend this book if you think to develop Java EE applications seriously.

Nice introduction of main features of Wildfly

This book not only explains the features of Wildfly: it also introduces J2EE main concepts and it does so in all the chapters. Indeed each chapter starts with a description of the functionality, and then proceeds with an example of such functionality.

I had never used J2EE technlogies before, and this book surely helped me started with web application development with J2EE and Wildfly.

What I appreciated most is the chapter on testing; it's only unfortunate that it comes really too late in the book (it's the last chapter); I would have preferred to see that chapter quite early in the book, and then see tests in all the chapters.

I found the chapter about "Securing Wildfly Applications" a little bit confusing in many parts... I had the overall pictures but it probably tries to give too many details in the space of a single chapter, and most of such details are rather confusing.

All in all, I think this is a nice book and I suggest it to anyone who's willing to start developing with Wildfly.

Stay in the relationship

I purchased this book for my grandkids because several were experiencing relationship troubles. I felt it was because, as girls, they believed they had to "love" the guy enough and part of that was excepting abuse to "show their love." Teaching my girls to learn to respect their own rights is so very important because I wasn't taught that when I grew up. This book gets the job done. They may not get all the Respect Me Rules down right away, but it will plant a seed and I pray that they learn it is not OK for their dates to mistreat them. I recommend it for anyone trying to help another learn respect and the best part is, they encourage couples to stay together--not get out, like other books do about this topic.

Finally a book on abusive relationships that can be used by everyone.

As a behavioral health clinician for the past 30 years, clients that were in abusive relationships seemed to never run out of reasons they stayed with the abuser. While I was able to provide emotional support and a few good ideas, I wish I had had a copy of "Respect me Rules" by Michael and Shelly Marshall to keep me on track.

This 160 page book is an excellent tool for the clinician or someone suffering the various forms of abuse that can be dished out by a partner. Too often I was caught up with trying to understand why a person stayed when I should have been more focused on ways to curtail the ongoing abuse. The "Respect me Rules" offer good practical advice a person can use to shape up a partner's behaviors. I will be using the book as a guide I can follow in therapy sessions and sharing it as a workbook with clients.

I would offer this word of caution for a person who wants to start using the book on their own. The relationship usually gets worse before it gets better, as the authors point out, when the partner escalates their abusive behaviors as a way to try and maintain control. If you are not working with a therapist, it would be best if you arranged a regular check in routine with a trusted friend, a member of the clergy or a member of your extended family to assure them you are ok.

It's all logical things, but unfortunately as a target of an abuser, you are not in a logical frame of mind. This book is full of affirmations and truths that are good to contemplate on. It has some good advice and lots of reminders even if you already know what the abuse cycle is about and you're on the road to healing. Many things are repetitious if you've read on the subject, but it is still worth the cost of the book.

Wouldn't it be nice if we lived in a world where respect was the norm. We don't. For many understanding, expecting, or demanding respect is a difficult concept -- that's where this book comes in. Knowledge is power -- your power -- your control of yourself!

This book has become my Bible

I've read numerous self-help books but none like Dr. Staples's THINK LIKE A WINNER. This book is solely responsible for my self-reinvention. I feel I'm in debt to Dr. Staples--and his unique way of planting his beneficial anecdotes in one's mind--for invalidating and transmuting all the false, self-destructive beliefs I had about myself. It hasn't been two years since I read the book, and, already, I'm at an advantage in my life--personally and professionally.

Read and then truly think like a winner !

This particular author going by the lack of reviews does not seem to be read as much as the likes of some of the other popular authors he credits. I don't know why as both his books "Think Like A Winner" and "In Search of True Self" are extremely informative and encouraging hitting deep while still being easy to understand. Mr. Staples in my opinion as read and condensed a lot of the famous self help psychology books into his works, with lots of deep and thought provoking wisdom from some of the biggest thinkers from the past, highlighting topics in his books and showing that wisdom as been around for a long time if you are receptive to it. I highly recommend all Walters books.

This book is unlike any of the dozens and dozens of books on the self-help shelves. And, I've read a lot of them...as I'm in the business of self-help. There is so much gold in this book that can easily and quickly be applied to our daily living. It should be a must read for every student, every teacher, every person. It's worth 100 times the cover price.

I read the book Modernization of Islam by Dr. Susmit Kumar. It is a very good book to understand economic and political problems and its solution. I came to know about a new socio-economic theory Prout(The Progressive Utilization Theory). It seems to be a solution for present economic crisis.

About the Author
Joumana Haddad is an award-winning poet, literary translator, publisher and journalist. Excellent, intelligent, provoking, thoughtfull, informative and highly necessary for our world today!

Jiumana Haddad may seem angry at times, but she has extremely good reason to be, and I get angry with her when reading about all the atrocities that are comitted to women! The longer I live in the middle east, the more I observe of bigotery an "holier than thou"- attitudes. I see Joumana Haddad as a mothern, feminine feminist, who does not in any way try to compete with men on their battlegronds, no kind of "feminist machism", but honest and deepfeldet outrage at the lack of humanism, respect for women as compared to men. This is a necessesary book for all who would like to call themselves humanists. It is a book filled with mothern humanistic, peaceful thoughts, while denouncing aggressive, abusive attitudes towards womankind. The enormous question I am left with after reading her book is: should women be regarded as less than human? Does men want to have their children with some kind of domesticated animals without original thoughts? What kind of children would that breed?
I do not believe that this book will be able to change much in men of the arab world (it is not written for them), and I do not recommend it to men with the "true faith", e.i. monotheism. However I think that women who want to think their own thoughts, who wnt to think independently, from any culture in this world, might find inspiration for independent thought in this book, not necessarily beeng agreeing with evrything, but seen as something thoughtprovoking.
As a man, psychiatrist, of 70 years, I do have some experience, with different cultures. women and men and not least with relations. And I think this bok is important far beyond th arab world. I would expect it to have the stronges impact in Europe, which is less dominated by monotheistic and womensupressing ideals than any other continent. And in spite of this, i think it is a book which is necessary in order to bring further the discussion and conciousness of the kind of double moral that exist in the relations between the sexes, even in Europe.
This book is a "must" for mothern feminists who want to reclaim rheir equal rights, and rights to be different from men, and also for men who truly want to understand their female partners.

The most intelligent and usefull book on fractals

I really enjoyed the author's style. It is not a typical mathematical book. So if you are into strict formal mathematics this is not for you. The author has deep understanding of fractals and he is an expert in Iterated Function Systems (IFS). The shadow theorem is one of the biggest hits on this book.
What I particularly like from this book is the illustrations. They let you understand fractals intuitively. It is definitely an ideal book for engineers. Try also his other more advanced book SuperFractals
The only part of the book that is not very well developed is chaos, although the "chaotic dance" presented on the book is good starting point

Way over my head!

Man, this got way too deep, way too fast. I have some algebra, some statistical analysis, some calc... This just took off running and left me in the dust. I was "fooled" by the "first course" title?

In fractal geometry we are concerned with the structure of subsets of various very simple "geometrical" spaces. Such a space is denoted by X. It is the space on which we think of drawing our fractals; it is the place where fractals live. What is a fractal? For us, for now, it is just a subset of a space. Whereas the space is simple, the fractal subset may be geometrically complicated.

So, why is *this* a fractal, but, *That*'s just a recursive function? Idunno, and I guess that I won't until I find another book?

This is a beautiful book. LOTs of graphics, TONs of information, but not for me.
