Are you afraid of Ghost?

This book launches the Cleric Quintet characters even further than the second book did. This is where Cadderly's major character change occurs. In the previous books, Cadderly was a struggling self-doubting and inexperienced boy. He thought himself useless to his friends, and in Sylvan Shadows, he leaves Danica because he was afraid (he admits this in the book). Now, though, Cadderly finds a new purpose for himself and rekindles his relationship with Danica and his friends. He survives against gigantic odds and political intrigue. The entire time, he has no idea how many people are looking to kill him, and yet he manages to escape and fight back.

R.A. Salvatore is successful in weaving a complex and suspenseful story, with amazing characters and interesting subplots. Ghost is a remarkable character. For those familiar with the Drizzt novels, just imagine what would happen if Ghost happened to meet the dark elf. Could Drizzt shield himself from the Ghearufu? Ghost and the Night Mask assassins present themselves as a tremendously evil force, and I often wondered if Cadderly and his friends could withstand them. At times, the story may seem like it drags, but I believe it was necessary to describe what Cadderly goes through in the Dragon's Codpiece. His ascension towards Deneir is quite a dramatic change in this series; Cadderly now has unfathomable powers that will only keep growing.

If you enjoyed the previous books in this series, or even if you didn't but want to know what happens after Sylvan Shadows, I recommend reading this book. It is the turn of the tide in the Cleric Quintet series, and the last few chapters of the book are quite spectacular.

Salvatore did it again!

I don't know how he does it. He just does. This book is everything a reader could ask for. There is conspiricy (in my not so humble opinion), suspence, action, and if you like that sort of thing, romane (luckily, not too much.) This book, book 3 in the Cleric Quintet, is a turning point for the main charactor and the plot. Each book is a story in itself, yet the whole series is like a humongo book, too large to be print entirely, so broken in 5 parts. I think it is a great book-and that is an understatement!

A true work of Mature Fantasy

I, like many others, am enamored with the writings of R.A. Salvatore, everything from the Demonwars series to the classic Drizzt Novels, but the Cadderly Series, and this book in particular, has something that none of his other books have. Maturity. The Depth of Evil that the Ghearfu is, and its master, Ghost, contains, is truly horrifying, and the new characters are fully fleshed out. In addition, Salvatore pulls no punches when it comes to main characters, he doesn't hold back when their death is needed for plot developement. The magic in this book is also descibed as it never has been before, making the arcane arts and divinity so much more impressive. However, the quality of this book that I am most impressed by was the love between Cadderly and Danica. I admit, as a semi-hopeless Romantic I'm a sucker for this sort of thing, but the way the romance and resulting actions were described was so perfect, that I was deeply moved. In short, many of Salvatore's works, while good, are easily forgettable. This book will remain with me throughout my life. I urge those of you who are on the brink of buying this book, and this whole series, to do so. It is a magnificent work of modern fiction, and the best That Salvatore has ever written.

Always thought that Disney did not treat the original artists with the respect they deserved. Saw this and wanted to start my own search for the original artists. I was hoping would be bigger. With the original size drawings, but can use this book as guide for finding more information...

This a very basic overview of Walt's Nine Old Men. It is more like a collection of essays that someone did for a school project. It does a good job introducing them but you will not find out any in depth detail. There are several mistakes in the book as well. It is a quick read that should only take you a few hours if you have the time to sit down and read it in one sitting. If you are looking for a quick guide to who they are this is the book for you. If you are looking for behind the scenes knowledge and stories this is not it.

Siddharth Shekar is a game developer with over 5 years of industry experience in game development. He has developed several games and published them on the iOS, Android, Amazon, and Windows Phone App Stores. Siddharth has been programming for the last 11 years and is adept at C++, C#, Objective-C, Java, JavaScript, LUA, and now Swift. He has experience in developing games for the web, mobile, and desktop using Flash, Cocos2d, Cocos2d-x, Unity 3D, and Unreal Engine. Apart for being concentrated entirely on Mac(iOS), this book is great. 4 Stars just because of that. Otherwise the book is good, well written and easy to understand. Only thing i would like to suggest would be having basic knowledge of Objective-C is plus.

Cross platforming thing is shared in the end chapters but will only help(much easily) the people who know the basics of Cocos2D, otherwise it is going to a bit on the harder edge for the beginners.

Amazing book!

This book is fantastic, you can understand the cocos2d from basics to start building interesting games for iOS, Mac OS X and Android. This is a great choice if you already know how to program in Objective-C and
iOS development, but if you know how to program in Object Oriented paradigm or if you want to start a game development journey this is a great book, that covers one of my favorite frameworks and I would recommend this as the best tool to work in great quality games for mobile, it is simple, lightweight and powerful.
The author has covered the most useful features to start making games, like sprites, backgrounds, menus, scenes, level creations and management. All the book is very well structured and show how to do the things the right way, he doesn't simply show how to do, but he shows why to do also, what create much more possibilities, because this way you can understand the framework powers and how you can extend this powers to create your own features. Mobile game development has normally input by touch, one of my favorite chapters show a great variety of touch input for games and for me this is one of the most import things in games, the way that the users will interact with your game. This book also show how to use physics this is also important in games for mobile, there are many great games that you can start with physics, and you can mix physics with accelerometer, that expand your capabilities to start great games. But the author has also showed more game topics that are more generic, I want to say that are independent from this framework, but are very important in game development and you will need to know how to do, topics like AI and A* pathfinding. I am very happy with this book because this is a great hand tool box of cocos2d, before read this book I already have worked with Cocos2d-x and Cocos2d-js, I think that I known how to do the things but I was wrong, I failed when I started to test this framework before to use things like XML and 2d lights, that could be simple to you, but to was very traumatic and this book showed me the right way to create a full featured game using the advantages of this version of the cocos2d framework for Apple and Android devices, this framework has very interesting tools to use with like sprite helper, levelhelper and other tools that allows you to develop fast and are very popular in game developer teams. He also shows great optional tools to use like physics editor, particle designer for example, and how to implement Swift syntax in Cocos2d and SpriteBuilder basics to create games and port your projects to Android.

Ohh my Angelo Ti Amo!!! I loved loved this book!! I got to see my baby Drake and visit with Georgia!! But from the opening page Angel took over him and Raquel where fire !! Now we see the reason Angel was trying to hit everything that moved he was trying to burn her out his system but it wasn't working she put her stamp on him and now she was back and he was claiming what was his and boy did he claim it!!!!! From the hot scene in the the hotel when she came face to face to what she awakened to Angelo realizing what he wasn't letting go!! And then My Drake came out to play and it got real plus one more surprise which brings Desired too a stunning conclusion ties are forged battles are lost and won and just when you think you know it gets even R.A.W.er Come meet Angel you won't be disappointed!! Do your Damn thing S.K!!!!!!

Off the chain Excellent!!!!

I just had to give this review before I went to bed. This book was a great sequel to first book. I have to strongly urge readers to please read Desired the first book first!!!!! Loved Drake and Georgia's story but this book is all Angel and his other half Raquel. A lot of questions were answered especially regarding why the relationship between Angel and his brother Eddie was broken. S.K Lessly did a tremendous job and this book was worth the wait. If you read other books by this author you will truly get a treat as she has included two other favorite characters Max & Mason West from RUINED!!!! How she was able to incorporate them into book was just awesome. Loved it, Loved it, Loved it!!!

Okay so in all of your books that I own I've always maintained that I was #teamJosh however I just finished this book and though I still love my Josh, Angel has taken first place in my heart among SK Lessly alpha males. Wow you did ya thang on this book lady. I absolutely love all of your writing without a doubt but this one has by far has to be my favorite. I love how you incorporated Mason and Max into this story. I'm still smiling at the banter between the guys and how well Max, Georgia and Raquel became friends. This book kept me trying to figure out who was the traitors and who had Angels back I was looking at everyone funny and didn't trust a soul you did a good job of keeping the readers guessing cause I swear I was getting mad at the wrong people. But I loved how the scheme got Drake back to his cousin that was clever lol. As always I am forever a fan and can't wait til the next one drops. It most certainly will be added to my SK collection of purchases.

Nothing else like it...

I love this book because frankly, there is really nothing else like it. It's part studio visit, part archeological dig, and part meditation on the hidden inspirations, magical objects and rituals that propel an artist's practice. The book is also a thoughtful memoir of the author's visits to the studios of extraordinary contemporary artists like Gary Panter, Jill Magid, Byron Kim, Aaron Curry, Kerry Tribe, David Altmejd, John Baldessari and many many others. The writing is intelligent, the stories are intimate and full of warmth and humor. STUDIO LIFE is a welcome reminder that behind every public work of art is a very private world.

A fascinating, beautiful book

The book opens the doors into spaces and lives one would rarely get to see. And once inside, it shows the particularities that make each artist's studio and practice unique. Patterns emerge, but what comes across is the studio as a reflection of the artist's mind. Every thing is lovingly photographed and back stories emerge. The conversations convey a sense of the intimacy of the studio visit with a fellow artist. The cumulative effect of the one hundred studio profiles is a portrait of contemporary studio life in America.

Getting this book was a nice surprise--it offers a really interesting and alternate take on what makes artists tick in their studios. Really appreciated the longer entries of William Wegman, Tony Oursler, Jim Shaw, and Gary Panter.
